New Orleans, LA, May 23, 2018 – Based on his decades of experience counseling design professionals on succession planning for their practices, James F. Lee, Jr. of Lee/Shoemaker PLLC led a panel discussion, “The Future is Now: Managing Firm Ownership Transition and Succession Planning,” at the Annual Large Firm Conference put on by Victor O. Schinnerer & Company, Inc. in partnership with CNA. For the past several years, Jim has concentrated his practice on advising design professionals on transition planning, weighing the pros and cons of an internal transition versus an external transition in order to find the right solution for the individual design professional or firm.
Jim was joined on the panel by Andrew McCune, PE (CEO/President of Wade Trim), Bruce Nicholson, Esq. (Director of Risk Management of Woodard & Curran), Albert Rubeling, Jr., FAIA (Senior Vice President of Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson), and Neal Wunderlich, PE (President of Wunderlich-Malec Engineering, Inc.) in discussing different methods of ownership transitions from the perspective of both buyers and sellers and internal transitions with, and without, ESOP programs.
